4 Ways to identify EBay Auction Fraud?
Although eBay is great place to shpo for things or sell things, it is also sort of playing ground for fraudsters. So, how could you identify and avoid eBay auction fraud?
1. Check the feedback score.
Feedback score can give you a lot of information about the seller, so never bid without checking the sellers’ feedbacks. If you don’t want your money to diseappear into thin air, you need to spend some time to read the feedbacks and se what other buyers are saying about the seller.
2. Find out more about the seller.
By clicking on their user name, you can find extra bid of information about the seller. Usually, genuine sellers will leave as much information as possible about themselves. Especially the contact information. If they just left an email address, you need to be careful. Make sure there is also phone number, which you can call and find out more about the product, which you want to bid.
3. Check if the seller is trustworthy
It is very likely that you haven’t bought from the person, who you are about to purchase. So, how could you trust that person? There are couple of things you could check: if they are a member of PayPal Buyer Protection (protects you against frauds and non-delivery of an item). You check this because; sellers need to meet certain requirements to offer this plan. So, they need to be reliable and trustworthy. So, having that protection plan can also give you some confidence towards the seller.
4. Make sure your card protects you.
You can also cover yourself on eBay, by using a card that offers you some kind of protection. Some credit cards offer insurances towards online fraud. So, check it with your bank and see if they have a service like that. Or you can also ask them to add it to your services, if haven’t got it already.
